The Auburn and Logan County communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Addison McKenzie Connelly, whose life of leadership, determination, and compassion left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Addison passed away on June 28, 2026, at the age of 19, leaving behind a legacy defined by excellence, service, and an unwavering commitment to those around her.
Born on March 8, 2007, Addison distinguished herself as an outstanding student, athlete, and leader throughout her years at Auburn Elementary School, Logan County High School, Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College, the Kentuckiana Real Estate Academy, and Keller Successful Career Opportunities in Real Estate (KSCORE).
A dedicated member of the Logan County High School JROTC program, Addison served as Battalion Executive Officer and Raider Commander, earning the admiration of fellow cadets and instructors alike. She exemplified discipline, integrity, and teamwork while inspiring those around her to pursue excellence. Her dedication also led her to compete at the Raider National Championships, where she proudly represented her school on the national stage.
Addison’s accomplishments extended to competitive marksmanship, where she became a two-time Kentucky State Air Rifle Champion. She also earned individual honors at the Sgt. Maj. Paul C. Gray Memorial Invitational while helping lead her team to an overall championship, reflecting both her individual skill and her commitment to collective success.
Beyond JROTC, Addison was an accomplished member of the Lady Cougars Cross Country and Track programs. Known for her determination and competitive spirit, she consistently encouraged her teammates while pushing herself to achieve new goals. Her athletic achievements were matched by the kindness, humility, and encouragement she shared with everyone around her.
Family and friends remember Addison for far more than her impressive accomplishments. She was known for her warm smile, compassionate heart, and ability to lift the spirits of others. Whether in the classroom, on the athletic field, or within her community, she made a meaningful impact through her character and genuine care for those around her.
She is survived by her parents, Miranda and Dustin Connelly; her sister, Bayleigh; and her brother, Abel. She also leaves behind her grandparents, great-grandparents, extended family members, and many friends whose lives were enriched by her presence.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Kirby Funeral Services in Russellville, Kentucky. Following visitation, a funeral service will be conducted before Addison is laid to rest at Auburn Cemetery.
In honor of Addison’s passion for leadership, education, and personal growth, her family has established the Addison McKenzie Connelly Legacy Scholarship at First Southern National Bank. The scholarship will support future Logan County High School graduates, ensuring her commitment to excellence continues to inspire generations to come.
Although her life ended far too soon, Addison McKenzie Connelly’s legacy of leadership, perseverance, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of her family, friends, classmates, teammates, and the entire Logan County community.
